Challenging Poverty Together
Our Mission is to get local children off the streets of Uganda and back into school, increasing their chances of finding employment and their likelihood of receiving medical treatment. We are faced with many challenges and our dedicated volunteers work tirelessly towards our goals though we still need your help.
There are thousands of homeless and vulnerable orphans in Uganda without families or food, being traumatised and neglected. We provide parental care and education, working towards restoring their mental and physical health.
SCMI is a community-based program mainly providing educational services to vulnerable children from rural and urban areas of Uganda. This vital project enables the provision of lodging facilities to orphans and defenceless youth. Our program addresses the basic human rights of quality education and developmental support to many children across the nation.
Our local education centre, Cornerstone kindergarten and primary school is in desperate need of scholastics material, chairs, and tables. Thankfully more children than ever are seeking an education, however, (due to the dramatic increase of students) the kindergarten and school are struggling. Many of the students are extremely vulnerable, some are orphans or homeless. These brave children face mental health and psychical illness daily.
In order to provide these children with the best start possible, we have started a school food program. Research indicates that eating a healthy and nutritious diet can improve mental health, enhance memory and concentration and improve academic performance. Student participation in breakfast programs has been linked to better grades, reduced absences and improved memory.
Through donating, you can be a part of our school food program where we provide meals during classes for children who may not be able to afford food at home, giving children the best possible start to their education.
